CraftLipi Foundation 2nd Program held at Pencil Bhavan, Uttar Maju, Howrah 711414 on 26th April 2024 where we have invited 35 distinguished guests who are actively involved in many activities related to environment, green drive, pollution, education, water conservation etc. in this region. We discussed about may environmental and social matters which are the major areas of concern which are damaging environmental, social and cultural balances that we used to have.
1. #greenrevolution : mass plantation drive – one person one plant, preparing for the plantation drive in coming monsoon in the complete village area that we are involved.
2. #wastemanagement : we need proper arrangement for waste disposal mechanism in village areas now as all villages are becoming like cities only with usage of mass produced plastic items and other single usage useless products.
3. #waterconservation : reduce water wastage that is happening due to pipe line water supply to all village homes and people are forgetting the value of water as it now available free directly to every homes by facilities provided. Ground water level is going down drastically, and summer is having real issues with contaminated water with iron and arsenic.
4. #airpollutioncontrol : villages are gradually getting occupied by many small scale industries who are not following any rules or norms for pollution control. Even red category industries are being permitted to have operations within 500m of village residential areas by local village authorities / panchayets.
5. #ecofriendlylifestyle : Plastic usage in village areas has become uncontrolled now along with many materials which are polluting air, water and soil and that too just because of the fact that there is no organized controlling body to control the usage of harmful materials and products.
6. #healthyfood : Village kids are also addicted with junk foods and aerated drinks along with many unhealthy and unhygienic foods. Food habits of the current and the upcoming generation is having direct impact on health and loosing immunities drastically day by days.
7. #villagebeauty : village beautification has become very much essential now just because of unplanned and unorganized development of concrete buildings, roads, electric wires, pipelines, disposing anything and everything anywhere, covering soils randomly leaving no space for plants, birds and animals loosing habitats and so on.
8. Village #safety & #sanctity : We have lost that old time purely of village environment as technology has entered aggressively in the areas where literacy of people is very less as how to use technology keeping the village essence intact. Villages lost safety of people – women and children along with elderly as well as it has lost the essence of village living style and its uniqueness.
9. Self #sustainable#village#ecosystem : it used to be the balance of Air, Water and Soil – where everything was perfect and supportive to each other to have a good impact on environment and living bodies inside it.
10. Village Based Support system & Management : to manage everything together – there is a strong need of a local level management bodies to organize and control each one for implementation and maintenance.
